It is springtime and the Friends of the Oskaloosa Library like to do something "FOOLish"
This year it is a book sale! Thursday, March 30th noon-6pm, Friday, March 31st 10-5, and Saturday, APRIL FOOL'S DAY from 9-noon. Besides books, cd's videos, computer games, and audio books are available to purchase. The prices are foolishly low.

Happy Holidays!

The Oskaloosa Public Library hosted a toy fair in conjunction with the Jefferson County Service Alliance. Toys were collected in December and brought to the library to be sorted. Anyone could come in and trade a canned good for a toy-plus a stuffed animal, we had so many! Over 500 toys were dipersed. God's Storehouse, the only county free food organization, benefited greatly. Considering the snow storm, the event was a huge success. A bigger and better toy fair is in the planning for 2006.

This is the first entry for the Oskaloosa Public Library's blog. If you have comments about books, movies, or other materials you'd like to see in the collection, please leave suggestions.

The Friends of the Library, or F.O.O.L.'s, could use some new fundraising ideas. A yearly plant sale and 'death by chocolate' sale have been successful, but don't raise enough money to accomplish big projects.

The Library purchased 6 copies of Debi Gliori's, No Matter What, to distribute to the grade school, day cares, and head start during Children's Book Week. Karen, outreach worker, will be reading the story to groups everyday during the special week.
